Often radiotherapy departments will let you bring your own playlist to listen to during treatment. Having my own songs brought a sense of comfort & familiarity in the weirdest of situations (let’s face it, having lazer beams shot into your boobs isn’t the most regular of experiences!)
It took a while for my list to work as I had to make it public & shareable for the NHS computer system to accept it. On one session, I ended up covering my boobs with one hand & navigating their laptop with the other, loading up Spotify, lol.
The list was actually played throughout the department for all the patients & staff to hear. The staff commended me for my choice of ‘roadtrip’ mix! As far as I know, it’s still on their Spotify.
Oh & check out the lyrics on Hefner’s ‘The Greedy Ugly People’ – I genuinely forgot that there was a lyric about cancer, lol!

At the end of my radiotherapy, I made a playlist called ‘Tazer’s End’ (geddit, lol) to celebrate getting through the sessions. I listened & sang along drunkenly to the songs as I downed a bottle of champagne, sitting on my bench in the front garden!
These are songs that have had a significant meaning / impact on me at different times in my life.

The second one was a ‘chill-out’ playlist for us to wind down to, post-show. Many songs are uplifting & reflective. It’s no coincidence that the playlist starts with Massive Attack’s ‘Be Thankful For What You’ve Got,’ for which I am, every single day.
